OK, so: I know it seems like this genre has been done to death--dystopian world, government suppression of emotion/thought/love/choice. However, I do think Oliver sets her novel apart with:* actually good writing (as opposed to ...most of YA lit. Worst offender: Uglies. ACK.)* characters who are not too stupid to see the plot happening in front of them* a decent plot twist that wasn't 100% predictable* a not-so-saccharine ending. I'm impressed. I'll read more from Lauren Oliver.
