OK, so...sometimes an author needs to be OK with not turning a series of two books (is there a word for that? I should probably know) into a trilogy. Sometimes, there really just is not enough story left in the characters for a third book, and "Diamond" is a prime example. At best, this was a short story, dragged out to novel-length boredom. The characters didn't develop in any way, the plot was really just a riff on the first book, and the new characters were ripped out of the story almost as quickly as they were introduced. The whole thing just felt...soulless. We won't even talk about the rushed "happily ever after" ending. Two...maybe 2.5 stars. Stick with books one and two, and forget this one.
