This book has been on my to-read list for quite some time, and I just finally got around to checking it out from the library. (Published in the 70s, it's not even available on Kindle.) About three pages in, I realized I'd seen the movie, with a very young Anthony Hopkins and possibly Vanessa Redgrave? I can't remember for sure--I'll have to look it up. I recall the movie as charming, but the book, short as it is, was even more so. Each letter's words brought it's author's personality so distinctly and delightfully to life. It's a quick, but wholly worthwhile read. ETA: Anne Bancroft! That's right.
