If there were half-stars, I'd give this a 3.5, and with the editing it didn't get to have, it'd probably earn a 4. It's interesting to read from Edward's POV, but I find a few Meyer's use of a few phrases repetitive--I have to remind myself that this was leaked before the editor got out the big red pen. And honestly, with that in mind, it's quite good. Most drafts are far messier, less focused, and more grammatically disastrous. So Meyer gets an A- for general writing skills. In any event, the only reason this didn't earn a 4 off the bat is for that unpolished quality, and for the fact that, really, it's just a rehash of Book 1, so there wasn't much new plot-wise. I did enjoy the few tidbits we hadn't seen before, though, and if Meyer ever finishes and publishes the book, I'll be interested to read it.
